Information Technologies Institute (ITI) was founded in 1998 and in 2000 it became a founding member of the renowned Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). CERTH/ITI is a non-profit organisation operating under the auspices of the Hellenic Republic (General Secretariat for Research and Technology, Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs), with its head office located in Thessaloniki, Greece. It is one of the leading Institutions of Greece in the field of ICT having long experience in numerous European, national and industrial R&D projects. The institute’s key scientific personnel consists of 9 Researchers (Grades A’ to D’) who are assisted in their work by over 250 employees, namely postdoctoral and postgraduate research fellows, research associates and assistants, administrative and technical staff.
CERTH/ITI participates in DANTE through its Visual Computing Laboratory (VCL), a team of 2 full-time senior researchers and over 60 full-time research associates with the mission of achieving and spreading scientific and technological excellence in the field of multimedia and vision systems. VCL enjoys a distinguished reputation for innovation, receiving direct funding from private, national and international companies and the EU.
